“Pull for Preservation” Tournament on May 2
Clay pigeons will be flying high and low on Saturday, May 2, when the Flatonia Landmark Preservation Society holds its Second Annual “Pull for Preservation” sporting clay tournament.
The tournament will be held at the Fayette County Gun Club, which is approximately three miles north of LaGrange on Highway 77.

Vicky Trahan-Duncan aims for a high target.
“Preserving the integrity of our community’s architectural heritage is one of our primary goals,” stated Kathryn Geeseman, president of FLPS. “That’s why our organization was formed. And, by raising funds from this tournament it helps us spread our efforts throughout Flatonia and Fayette County.”
The “Pull for Preservation” tournament is expected to draw nearly 200 shooters and spectators from Houston, Austin, San Antonio, as well as Flatonia and surrounding communities. Included in the tournament is free lunch and ammo for shooters, silent auction, raffle and a trophy for class winners.
In addition, any participant with a perfect score after shooting 100 sporting clays will qualify for a $15,000 grand prize.
“We’re really excited about this year’s tournament,” Geeseman added. “We had so many positive responses last year from the participants and volunteers that we are encouraged that this year’s tournament will be even bigger and better.”
Registration fee is $100 if the shooter takes advantage of the early bird discount, which means they must submit their entry form by April 2. After that date the fee to register is $125. In addition to the registration fee, there are a number of underwriter levels available that not only offer shooting opportunities, but also provide advertising coverage in the tournament’s program and signage.
